Connect ChatGPT or Claude to your family calendar
Your AI assistant can read and update the real family calendar. Here is how to connect ChatGPT or Claude to Quok, and what your family can ask once it works.

You already plan with an AI. Dinner ideas, packing lists, the logistics of getting two kids to three places on Saturday morning. The answers are good. Then comes the part where you retype everything into the family calendar by hand, because your assistant cannot see it.
Quok closes that gap. Connect ChatGPT or Claude to your Quok family once, and the assistant you already talk to can read the shared calendar, add events, and put things on the shopping list. The plan lands where the whole family will see it, not in a chat that scrolls away.
What you need
A Claude or ChatGPT account. Both apps support custom connections, though availability can depend on your plan. In ChatGPT they live behind Developer mode.
A Quok family. Quok is our shared family calendar, tasks, and lists. It is free to start on iPhone and the web.
Quok Plus. Connecting your own AI apps is part of Quok Plus. Any organizer or adult in the family can set it up.
How the connection works
Quok speaks the Model Context Protocol, or MCP, the open standard AI apps use to work with other tools. There is no separate robot account and no special access. A connected app signs in as you, through the same secure browser sign-in you use in the app.
That last part matters. The assistant sees what you can see and changes what you can change, nothing more. Private events stay private, every change is recorded as yours, and you can revoke the connection from Quok at any time. Families are isolated from each other in the database itself.
Connect Claude
Copy your Quok address. In Quok, open Preferences and choose Connect an AI app, then Copy address. The address ends in /mcp, so copying it beats typing it.
Add a connector. In Claude, open Settings, choose Connectors, then Add custom connector. Name it Quok and paste the address.
Sign in and approve. Choose Connect. Claude opens a Quok sign-in page. Review the app name, your family, and the access it requests, then choose Allow access.
Connect ChatGPT
Turn on Developer mode. ChatGPT manages custom connections as apps. In Settings, open Apps, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode.
Create the app. From Apps settings choose Create. Name it Quok, paste your Quok address, and pick OAuth for authentication.
Approve and enable. Sign in to Quok and choose Allow access when ChatGPT checks the connection. Then enable Quok from the apps menu in a new chat, because ChatGPT does not use it on its own.

What your family can ask
"What's on the family calendar this week?" The assistant reads the real shared calendar, not its memory of an old chat.
"Add a dentist appointment on Thursday at four." The event appears on the shared calendar for the whole family, in the right week.
"Put sunscreen and juice boxes on the shopping list." The items land on the real list, in everyone's pocket, before the thought is gone.
"Here's the party invitation. Put it on the calendar and add a gift to the shopping list." Paste the whole message and let the assistant do both steps at once.
One tip from our own homes: some AI apps need Quok switched on per chat. If the assistant says it cannot reach your calendar, look for Quok in the tools, connectors, or apps menu of that chat before you retype anything.
Your assistant, your rules
While an app is connected, your requests and the data it reads are processed by that AI provider under its own terms. If that trade-off is not right for your family, simply do not connect, because every Quok feature works without it. Our Help Center lists exactly what a connected assistant can and cannot touch.
